I first started training in the late 1980’s when kick boxing and
the Muai Thai fighting systems were virtually unknown forms of
combat. I was introduced to these new styles of fighting by
Lincoln Boney, the founder of the Vipers Organisation, and I
then commenced on a vigorous training programme. The main theme
behind the programme aimed to ‘build champions’ by concentrating
on the application of traditional techniques and also the
strengthening of the mind, involving character building.
Throughout my years of practice I was able to compete against a
variety of styles in various competitions. In a short period of
time I became an established member of the core group of
fighters and subsequently won a British Kick Boxing Union title.
I am now enjoying a new career coaching and instructing within
the Vipers Organisation. Whilst being very rewarding, teaching
has presented me with many challenges. The methods and
techniques employed must be clear and accurate, otherwise
students will develop poorly and will underachieve both as
martial artists and as competitors. As a teacher you are the
blue print of what your students shall become.
On a personal level, the practice of martial arts has instilled
me with the discipline and attitude to deal successfully with
many of life’s challenges. Martial Arts, for me, is a good path
to follow.
