“I originally took up kickboxing for self-defence. I
looked at a few other organisations, but Vipers seemed to
be the friendliest, so I signed up for the six week
beginner’s course. The sessions were quite a shock, but I
found that my fitness levels improved very quickly, and I
looked forward to the next session.
I enjoyed the course so much that I decided to attend the
improver’s sessions. The difference between the beginner’s
class and the improver's was another shock, and I was very
much aware of how far ahead everyone else in the class
was. However, the tutors and the rest of the students were
really encouraging and friendly, so I kept going. I’ve
been attending the improver’s session for a few months now
and I feel that I have really improved. I feel stronger
and much more confident in myself. I’m constantly busy,
with work and study, but I make sure I attend the classes,
as I find that I can then concentrate better on my work.
Although I feel I have improved, I still feel that I am
quite a way behind the rest of the class. So I recently
started attending another class during the week in order
to improve my skills and boost my confidence (which I
think is my main problem).
I would recommend Vipers to anyone thinking of taking up
kickboxing, as the classes can be tough, but they really
improve your confidence and fitness, and everyone is
willing to help the new person. Which I think plays a big
part in encouraging new students to keep going”
